Cee Lo Green announces Las Vegas residency

Cee Lo Green has announced his plans to take over Las Vegas this year.

Billboard reports Green will launch his semi-permanent show, "Loberace," August 29 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and run at least through the end of the year.

"The production will combine Cee Lo's flamboyant sense of style and over-the-top creativity," producers said in a statement, adding that the show "will be as inspired and visually alive as Cee Lo Green."

Organizers say the show will include a musical journey through time, with tributes to Prince and the Rolling Stones. "Mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls" are also on tap.

The 37-year-old Green, known for his soulful voice and extravagant costumes, is a coach on the NBC show "The Voice." His break came in the mid-1990s in the southern rap scene, but has evolved to include Gnarls Barkley, a collaboration between him and DJ-producer Danger Mouse, and his 2010 solo album "The Lady Killer."

The 28 shows through the end of December are scheduled for late nights, and some follow Planet Hollywood's "Peepshow" production in the 1,400-seat theater.
