Spend New Year’s Eve with Coldplay on Austin City Limits

Americans can ring in the New Year with Coldplay next month.

The band are featured in concert on the first-ever Austin City Limits New Year’s Eve special.

The rare 90-minute episode can be seen on PBS stations across the U.S. on Saturday, December 31 at 11pm ET.

The show is also available in the US online at pbs.org at the same time.

“We decided to go big with Coldplay – really big,” said ACL Executive Producer Terry Lickona. “So we came up with the idea of celebrating New Year's Eve with a 90-minute special. All the hits plus their brand new songs. It'll be a great way to kick off 2012!"

The band are plugging their new album, “Mylo Xyloto.”

MTV described the taping: “It was one of those special nights when a band with a major arsenal finds a way to take its giant energy and squeeze it down into a much smaller space, without losing any of their arena-packing magic.”

Playing in front of the neon-colored set they brought with them to enhance our iconic skyline, Coldplay electrified the crowd with old favorites and new songs including the first-time ever public performance of new song “Up in Flames."
