There is a major shakeup going on at American Idol this week.
TMZ reports top 12 contestant Jermaine Jones will be kicked off the program Wednesday night, after producers learned he concealed the fact that he was arrested twice last year and has outstanding warrants.
Producers discovered Tuesday that Jermaine had lied about his criminal history and that triggered the decision to confront him on camera Tuesday afternoon.
TMZ has learned that one of the incidents involved violence, and that he also lied to police by giving them fake names both times he was arrested.
Sources tell the gossip site that Jermaine will appear on the show Wednesday night before he is sent packing.
Jones also gave away his status by posting on his official Idol Twitter account: “Awww I will no longer b on the show,” but the post was later deleted.
In the past week, media reports about the “gentle giant” with the huge voice have revealed a history of lies from the singer, who reportedly told producers his father abandoned him 10 years ago; Jermaine’s dad contacted TMZ and denied the story while confirming that the two see each other regularly.
