One Direction made an appearance on Thursday night’s elimination episode of the US version of The X Factor.

One D opened the program with the first single from the project, “Live While We’re Young,” and returned later to perform “Little Things.”

The visit was designed to promote the boy band’s new album, “Take Me Home,” which comes out on Tuesday.

The appearance also helped the group’s pal – and X Factor US producer – Simon Cowell, who mentored the band on the UK version of the program back in 2010, were they finished third; Cowell subsequently signed One D to his record label.
