Justin Bieber was charged with assault in Toronto Wednesday night after surrendering himself to police.
The Toronto Star reports the pop star arrived at 52 Division to face a charge stemming from an early-morning December 2013 incident when police allege Bieber struck a limousine driver in the head.
Police said a limo picked up a group of six outside a downtown nightclub at about 3 a.m. on December 30. As the driver headed for a hotel, an altercation ensued. The driver stopped the vehicle and called police after he was struck.
“The man who struck him left the scene before police arrived,” police said.
Bieber’s representatives will appear in Toronto’s Old City Hall court on March 10 to address the matter.
Last week in Miami, Bieber was charged with drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license after police saw the pop star street racing around 4 AM.
A Miami Beach officer saw Bieber driving a yellow Lamborghini in a race against a red Ferrari in a residential area, Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told reporters. The cars were speeding at about 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Bieber, 19, made a brief court appearance and was released on a "standard" $2,500 bond. The singer will be arraigned in a Miami court on the charges on February 14.
The singer made headlines recently when he was accused of egging a neighbour’s home in Los Angeles, which reportedly resulted in $20,000 worth of damages.
