Rumors have been swirling for months about changes to American Idol for next season.
Early reports suggested that Jennifer Lopez may not return as a judge, focusing her energies instead on her music and television producer duties.
And, while the status of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson isn’t known, a new name has popped up: Adam Lambert.
E! News reports that sources say the program has been in talks with Lambert for the past month.
"He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start,” says the source. “He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."
Lambert was the runner-up on season 8 of the series, placing second to Idol winner Kris Allen.
Adam released his sophomore album, “Trespassing,” earlier this spring, and he’s joined rock legends Queen for a series of five concerts – including three sold-out shows at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London this week (July 11, 12 and 14).
