Adam Lambert says the only thing his single, “Ghost Town”, and Madonna’s current single, “Ghosttown”, have in common is the title.
Issued just two weeks after Madonna’s, Lambert explains his shock at discovering both artists were releasing singles with the same title at the same time.
"I'm on my laptop on a little four-day vacation in Mexico," Lambert tells Billboard, "and I open up my iTunes, I'm searching through, and I'm like, Oh, Madonna's music is out! I love Madonna! I've always loved Madonna -- she's an icon, she's an amazing entertainer. And I see on the track listing a song called 'Ghosttown.' And I thought, What are the chances? What is the hell is going on here?"
At first, Lambert panicked a little.
"My reaction was so complicated," he says, "because I think I texted my management, like, 'Did you see this? Did you see this? What are we gonna do?' And they said, 'You know, it's fine because the songs are so different.'
“Hers is like a post-apocalyptic love song, mid-tempo, and mine's like an existential dance goth rave thing. So they're two different songs - they just share a title."

Televised to over 60 countries across the world, Queen’s shows were watched by nearly 200 million people. Queen albums occupied all top ten places in the Brazilian album chart and “Love Of My Life” became a new Brazilian anthem.
Queen and Adam Lambert announced a 19-date summer tour of North America on Thursday, and the group are now sharing some video of their press conference at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Shows begin June 19 in Chicago and wrap July 20 in Washington, D.C.

Things have come full circle for Lambert, who auditioned for American Idol five years ago by singing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Will Rock You."
Tickets for the Queen + Adam Lambert tour will go on sale beginning Friday, March 14 through the Live Nation mobile app and at Livenation.com.
American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Monday, March 10 at 10am local time in the USA and Tuesday March 11th at 10am local time in Canada.

“We were very conscious of that in making this decision,” guitarist Brian May tells Rolling Stone. “This is the closest that you'll ever get to see Queen as it was in our golden days, but it's not a reproduction. It's not an imitation. We're here live and real and we have a great singer. They'll be a lot of newness about this. I think that's very exciting. It'll be loud and dangerous and all the things that people used to look for in us.”
“I think the thing that's really special is that this is the real deal. This is live,” adds Lambert. “In today's music world, you go to a concert and you're getting a lot of playbacks. There's click tracks. It is what it is. I'm not hating on it. But this is the real deal. This is pure. We're not playing to a click. We're not playing to tracks. This is all live instruments. I'm singing all the vocals with these guys on vocals. It's purely organic. I think in today's day and age, it's very exciting for an audience to see something that has that much heart.”
Things have come full circle for Lambert, who auditioned for American Idol five years ago by singing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Will Rock You."
Asked when they first saw Adam perform, drummer Roger Taylor explains: “A musician friend of mine in America was like, ‘You've gotta check out this guy on Idol.’ So we Googled [him]. His voice was phenomenal. I was just like, ‘Wow.’ I said [he]had this sort of slight Elvis look going on. I just thought, ‘Wow, what a voice! Those octaves!’ That was my first impression. It was just like anybody else hearing about someone with an extraordinary talent.”
“When you see Adam, you see a performer,” adds May. “He's performing from his heart. He's interpreting the song. I never had any question that he's the real thing. It's a rare thing to find someone with that much talent and the instrument to put it forward.”

Queen and Adam Lambert will make an announcement at a scheduled press event at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday, March 6.
Based on recent comments by guitarist Brian May, it is anticipated that the pairing will formally announce a series of US concert dates for this summer.
"We've been talking to Adam Lambert, you know we've already done some gigs with Adam, who is amazing," May recently told BBC Radio 2 host Steve Wright. “We are ongoing, we can't help it. I think we all protested too much in the sense when Freddie went and we didn't want to talk about it and didn't want to be Queen for a while."
"But after a while,” he continued, “you realize that people wanna hear the songs and see us do things. So, no matter what you call it, Roger and I do do stuff, and I think we'll be doing some more stuff this summer in fact, probably in the States."
Queen have previously toured Europe with Lambert, the former American Idol contestant, and played the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas last fall.

Although the American Idol season eight runner-up had split with 19 Management in August 2011, he remained signed to the recording arm of 19 Entertainment (now owned by CORE Media Group) for another 18 months.
According to sources, January marked the expiration for that contract, although he is still on the roster at RCA Records. “It’s good for both sides,” says an insider. “Adam can move forward with his plans and 19 isn’t stuck in the middle.”
A rep for Lambert says the two parties leave “amicably and with the utmost respect for each other,” adding that the decision is but one part of the singer’s “evolution,” which began when he joined Direct Management Group, home to Katy Perry among other clients.
Adam Lambert is hitting the small screen this fall.
Lambert will appear in a Halloween special episode of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.”
“Yup…imma be a Pretty Little Liar” tweeted Lambert.
On his national radio show, Ryan Seacrest confirmed the news, saying that “next week, they’ll start shooting a Halloween special to give you guys a desperately needed fix in October. It’s gonna feature special guest star Adam Lambert, who will appear in a scene with Lucy Hale and perform two songs.”
“Is there a better pick than Glambert for that episode?” added Seacrest. “That guy is a Halloween party on two legs.”
Lambert has been busy promoting his sophomore album, “Trespassing,” as well as performing a series of concerts with Queen.
Adam Lambert is stepping up to respond to rumors that he is being considered for the role of American Idol judge.
"'Idol' has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career," said Lambert on Monday. "IF 'Idol' wants to talk to me about judging, I'd be more than flattered to have that conversation."
Lambert was the runner-up on season 8 of the series, finishing behind Idol winner Kris Allen.
Adam spoke further about the Idol speculation during an interview with UK radio station Capital FM.
"I'm just hearing about this today as well and so what a beautiful rumor,” he said. “I mean if, and I say if with a capital I.F, if they were to approach me and if they were to say you know 'we want you to be a judge on the show' – I would love that! I would jump at the chance, I think it would be fun.”
"I've been a fan of the show since it's been on television. I owe my career to American Idol," Adam continued. "If you weren't for American Idol I doubt I'd be sitting here with you. I don't think my life would have went the way it went."
“I think it would be really exciting to be sitting at a judging panel and trying to help people reach their dreams."
Rumors have been swirling for months about changes to American Idol for next season.
Early reports suggested that Jennifer Lopez may not return as a judge, focusing her energies instead on her music and television producer duties.
And, while the status of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson isn’t known, a new name has popped up: Adam Lambert.
E! News reports that sources say the program has been in talks with Lambert for the past month.
"He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start,” says the source. “He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."
Lambert was the runner-up on season 8 of the series, placing second to Idol winner Kris Allen.
Adam released his sophomore album, “Trespassing,” earlier this spring, and he’s joined rock legends Queen for a series of five concerts – including three sold-out shows at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London this week (July 11, 12 and 14).
Queen teamed up with Adam Lambert Saturday night to take part in the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation charity concert at Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kiev, Ukraine.
The show was the largest social and cultural event of Euro 2012 and attracted hundreds of thousands of people on the main square of Ukraine and was seen by millions of viewers on TV screens throughout Ukraine and Poland.
In recognition of the importance and the charitable status of this project, the musicians who performed at the event waived their fees.
The Queen/Lambert team will play Moscow on Tuesday, and follow that up with three sold-out shows at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London (July 11, 12 and 14).
