Nicki Minaj and Big Sean are featured in a new ad for running shoes.
The shoe company has just launched its 2012 Adidas Originals campaign, which features the two singers in a commercial that also includes Minaj’s “Masquerade” from her album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” as its theme song.
“‘Masquerade’ to me, feels like the Olympics. When Adidas came to me, they mentioned the Olympics,” Minaj tells Rolling Stone. “They mentioned maybe having a performance at the Olympics, and I just put my brain into the mindframe of, ‘What does a champion feel like? What is the inner conversation of a champion?’ The song is about feeling inspired to win and to never give up and I feel like the Adidas campaign, that’s what it’s really about: giving people hope and you know, that’s what I wanted to convey in the song.”
So what made Minaj want to get involved with Adidas Originals in the first place?
“Well, I am a fan of the Adidas brand and have been for a very long time,” she says. “I believe they represent what I represent, which is inspiration and fun and working hard as well.”
Nicki is currently performing on her first US headlining tour, after which she heads to Europe for shows starting August 18 with her appearance at the V Festival in London.
